Push past the sweet spot and the count is only climbed by stacking plies and packing threads tighter. You gain weight, warmth and cost, not comfort. The four-figure numbers are a spec sheet, not a better sleep.

It's the yarn, not the number

We spin long-staple cotton into fine 80s and 100s yarns. That is where sateen gets its silky hand, soft drape and gentle sheen, and a figure on a label can never tell you that.

"Egyptian" is just a place

A loosely policed label, often stretched to mean more than it does. What matters is long-staple fibre, exactly what we use, so the country name is marketing, not better sleep.

We start with 100% long-staple cotton: longer fibres, spun into a smoother, stronger yarn, then woven into a dense sateen with a cool, lustrous hand. It's the slow way to make bedding, and the only way that earns a feel like this. No synthetics. No shortcuts.

Sateen has a cool, smooth hand you notice the second you slip in: a soft sheen, never a plasticky shine. And because the fibres are long, it doesn't wear thin. It only gets softer, wash after wash, for years rather than months.

Why I started Bedable

When I looked at what a premium cotton bedding set costs (sometimes £300 or more), I couldn't see where the money was going. Not into better cotton. Into the label, the shop floor, the markup.

So we built Bedable to sell the same long-staple cotton, woven to the same quality, at a price that reflects the fabric and nothing else. Free shipping, free returns, and a full year to be sure of it, because if we're right about the quality, we've nothing to hide.
